“Vengeance Belongs To God”- Parents Of Slain Cynthia Osokogu

The last may’ve not been heard of Cynthia’s demise in the hands of callous and wicked men. Her death serves as an unfortunate lesson to all and a caution on how we use social networking sites especially, when dealing with complete strangers that we’ve only met online. For the first time since her death, her parents speak out in an interview with newsmen on their loss, and offer words of advice to young people.

Speaking at their ECWA staff new GRA home at Farin-Gada area of Jos metropolis, The parents of slain Cynthia Osokogu have described the death of their only daughter as devastating, illogical and highly incomprehensible saying though vengeance belongs to God, those who perpetrated the dastardly act should be brought to book so as to deter those who take pleasure in killing innocent people at will.

Major-General Frank Osokogu (rtd), late Cynthia’s father, said the death of their daughter though painful and shocking, has not been in vain as it is a caution to youths who get to know friends on social media of whatever name and venture to meet the unknown people. Osokogu described the daughter’s action as an adventure which was a bit too much.

Cynthia: Murdered In Cold Blood

However, the mother, Chief (Mrs.) Joyrita Osokogu who said she had been of fasting since their daughter went missing disclosed that she had some worry because the daughter was too fast in life and accomplished so much in her young age that she had to caution her on the need to settle down in marriage.

According to her, “My daughter had been very wonderful and intelligent, she attended Command Secondary School, Jos where she won many laurels and she graduated from Nassarawa State University with good grades at the age of 21 and she read English Education.

It should be noted that Cynthia was not living a rough life as she had promised to introduce her  fiancé to her parents very soon, according to her mother.

Cynthia who was Miss NYSC Batch ‘B’ 2010 and a runner-up in Miss Nigeria 2010, was murdered in cold blood by friends she met on social networking site, Facebook after she was lured to a hotel in Lagos, drugged, beaten, raped and eventually strangled to death.
